How to Use This Guide

Welcome to our guide for finding historical newspapers and magazines from Latin America and Iberia!

There are generally two main options for finding newspapers, which depend on your country and years of investigation.

  • The first step is typically to identify what periodicals were actually being produced in the area at that time period. This is accomplished by searching through a bibliography or directory of periodicals. We hold many of these in print at UIUC and some of them are also online as PDFs.
  • Afterwards, you will naturally need to track down the actual newspapers themselves. We have access to several full-text digital collections, and many are also held by the library in microform.

To use this guide, you can use the tabs at the top of the page to search for either general or country specific resources.
