Where is the literature on cataloging?
Information about cataloging and tools for catalogers are published in many forms:
Books provide basic introductions to the theory and process of cataloging, reference tools for consultation when cataloging, and in-depth treatment of special topics.
To search the online catalog along with other sources such as Google Books and Amazon, use the LIS Easy Search.
Journal articles report research and new developments in the field. Articles may also present theoretical or historical perspectives.
To search for articles in LIS journals, use any or all of the three major online indexes:
You can use the LIS Easy Search to do simple searches across all three databases at once.
Consult the LibGuide, "LIS - Basic Information Sources - Finding Articles," for descriptions of these indexes and search tips for each. The guide also describes other relevant indexes and online resources.

Reports and other forms of gray literature are sources for the latest thinking, proposed changes to cataloging rules and processes, training materials, and so on.
Some grey literature is published in print format and may be acquired by the library. Use the online catalog to find it.
