Updates

Jan 2013: Write-N-Cite 4 is now available. We think it's more user friendly than previous versions. You can download it by logging in to your RefWorks account, clicking on tools, and selecting Write-N-Cite. Or see our Write-N-Cite tab in this guide for more detailed instructions.

What is RefWorks?

RefWorks is a citation management software program, paid for by the University Library and offered FREE to faculty, staff, and students at the University of Illinois.  RefWorks collects, stores, and organizes citations from books, articles, web sites, and other sources.

HOW WILL REFWORKS BENEFIT YOU?

  • Export records from databases to RefWorks seamlessly - takes the tedium out of reference tracking.
  • Access your RefWorks personal citation database from anywhere - on campus, at home, or abroad via the Web.
  • Instantly create bibliographies or insert references directly into MS-Word, using the citation style of your choice, with RefWorks' Write-N-Cite feature.
  • All citations in RefWorks have a U of Illinois "Discover" link, allowing you quick access to the e-version of journal articles, and more. More about Discover
  • Use with your PC or Mac computer.
