Getting Started

This site is intended to help students in Music 511. The tabs above each cover a type of library resource/area. Please note that there are several sub-tabs under the "Finding Music Materials: Home" tab and under the "Finding Journal Articles in Music" tab.

For more about the basics of the Music and Performing Arts Library and our collections, policies, facilities, and services, please see our Welcome guide.

If, during the course of your research, you encounter resources that we do not own, please request the item from the IShare catalog or via InterLibrary Loan. (See the tab called "Materials Beyond the U of I".) If the item can't be lent or you really think MPAL should own the item, please recommend that we purchase it.

If you have any questions, please stop by the reference desk or contact me ( You can also make an appointment with me to have an individual research consultation.
