Welcome!
Welcome to the Music and Performing Arts Library at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This guide is intended as an orientation to the Library for new music, dance, and theatre students. Please take a look around and stop by and visit us in the Library. We're always happy to help with any library or research questions.
We have books, music scores, periodicals, CDs, DVDs, and other materials that you can use for research and enjoyment. Many of our materials, including CDs and DVDs, can be checked out of the Library (bring your iCard!). We have computers with Internet access and software for researching and writing your papers. We have wireless access and open seating areas if you'd prefer to bring a laptop.
Please let us know if this guide was helpful to you by taking the survey on the lefthand side of this page. Feel free to leave comments on this page (upper lefthand corner) or send me an email with your suggestions (dougan@illinois.edu).
Using the library catalog
We have an entire guide that covers the complexities of searching the library catalog for music materials. It also clarifies what various music print and audio-visual formats are and how to tell what you're looking at when you've found an item in the catalog.
You can also access the Library's site on your mobile device via m.library.illinois.edu
