This guide is intended for new undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Music, Dance Department, and Theatre Department. It will serve as an orientation to the Music and Performing Arts Library for new users.

Library Facilities and Technology

Computers: The computers in the Reference area on the first floor (and the one workstation on the second floor) are for use by anyone, and have internet, Microsoft Office, and other software. You can print (B&W only) and the charges go on your University account.

Scanner: There is a flatbed scanner in the computer area by the Reference desk.

Photocopiers: There are photocopiers on the first and second floors of the Library. You can use cash or put money on your i-Card.

Reading area: The reading area by the windows on the first floor is available for quiet study.

Study carrels: There are study carrels available for assignment to graduate students. See Marlys to get on the list!

Wireless access: Wireless access is available everywhere in the Music Building, including the Library.

Listening carrels and rooms: There are listening carrels and rooms available for use on the second floor--see the Circulation Desk for a key.

Headphones: You can check out headphones for use at the computers or listening carrels.

Microform reader/scanner: There are two microfilm machines--one reader and one digital reader/scanner--both on the the first floor near the reference area. You can use the digital reader/scanner to create image or PDF files of microfilm.
