Keep in Mind!
If you are reading newspapers and magazines from your home computer, you will be prompted to enter your NetID and password in order to access all online material. The library funds these as research material and only those people who are affiliated with the University of Illinois may access them.
Not everything is online!
If you are reading magazines, some titles do not have access to the most recent issue. This is because the publishers want libraries to buy to the print version of the title as well and put what is referred to as an embargo on the title. An embargo is usually set to 6 months - then the title becomes available online in the full format. If this is the case for your title, look in the online library catalog for the print copy and you may come to the library anytime we are open to read or make copies.
Having Trouble?
Magazine titles are indexed and made available through databases. These databases are all run by different vendors (such as EBSCO) which is why all the formats look different as you swtich between titles. Are you having trouble accessing or navigating the databases? Can't find what you need? You have several choices:
- Ask a Librarian
- Go to the Get Help tab in this Guide
- Attend an OLLI Library Basics workshop
- Contact Merinda
