Basic Article and Book Resources for Global and Regional LIS Topics

LIS Databases

  • LISS (EBSCO): Covers all LIS topics, with substantial international journal and non-English coverage.
  • LISA (Proquest): Has a narrower range of indexed journals, but has substantial indexing of international library issues and journals in particular, including significant amounts of related material not covered in LISS.

Finding Books, Proceedings, and More in the Catalog

The catalog makes it easy to find information about specific locations by using Geographical Subject Headings in combination with headings related to LIS. The trick is to be sure you know the correct geographical heading and correct LIS subject heading.

LIS heading examples: Libraries, Museums, Archives, Information services, Libraries and community, Information technology, Library associations, Rural libraries.

Location heading examples: African, Sub-Saharan; Greece; Kentucky; Chicago.
