What is RefWorks?
RefWorks is a citation management software program, paid for by the University Library and offered FREE to faculty, staff, and students at the University of Illinois. RefWorks collects, stores, and organizes citations from books, articles, web sites, and other sources.

- Export records from databases to RefWorks seamlessly - takes the tedium out of reference tracking.
- Access your RefWorks personal citation database from anywhere - on campus, at home, or abroad via the Web.
- Instantly create bibliographies or insert references directly into MS-Word, using the citation style of your choice, with RefWorks' Write-N-Cite feature.
- All citations in RefWorks have a U of Illinois "Discover" link, allowing you quick access to the e-version of journal articles, and more. More about Discover

Using RefWorks
Signing Up
Creating a RefWorks account is quick, easy, and free for University of Illinois students, faculty, and staff. Here's how:
- Go to http://go.library.illinois.edu/refworkslogin.
- Click "Sign up for an Individual Account."
- Complete the form by providing your name, email address and by choosing a login and password. Click "Create Account."
- Save the Group Code from your email confirmation, you will need this to login off campus.
Accessing Your RefWorks Account
- Go to http://go.library.illinois.edu/refworkslogin.
- Click "Continue on to RefWorks"
- Enter your RefWorks login name and password.
Getting Started
- The RefWorks LibGuide contains instructions and troubleshooting information for all of the software's various features.

- Several tutorials are available online.

At the Refworks Login page
On the Main Library home page, under the heading "Article Resouces", select the "Online Journals and Databases" page, and search for "Refworks"
