Libraries for TS

Literature and Languages Library--The LLL has a rich reference collection of dictionaries and books for TS. Most are located in room 200 The Reading Room. There is a small selection in the LLL's Ready Reference Area (near the comfy chairs) and in the circulating collections. (See adjacent box for call number ranges.) Journals for TS can be found in the LLL's periodical area in 200 The Reading Room. 

Classics Library--The Classics Library has a collection of dictionaries for wide-range of ancient languages.

International and Area Studies Library--The IASL features a collection of dictionaries, though most are monolingual.

Main Stacks--The Main Stacks holds many works on the theory of translation, older dictionaries and journals.

This guide is currently under construction, so please bear with us. When completed, it will serve as a virtual library for core resources for the study and practice of translation, and support the goals and programs of the Center for Translation Studies at the University of Illinois.

 

Call numbers for TS

The UIUC Library has two call number systems: Dewey Decimal System and Library of Congress. Works in the circulation collections of the Literatures and Languages Library and some new books in the Main Stacks are in the Library of Congress system. All other works are in the Dewey Decimal System. 

Here are call number ranges for TS:

Library of Congress: P306-310 Philology. Linguistics. Translating and interpreting.

Dewey Decimal: 418 Applied linguistics
