What are Libguides?
Libguides are created and maintained by university librarians and library staff. They are designed to provide research sources, strategies, and support for both broad subjects and specific courses.
E-Books in the Library Catalog
The Library has a growing collection of current and historical e-books in many disciplines. Many books are available both in print and online and some are available only in e-book format.
The Library Catalog also includes access to e-books from the HathiTrust Digital Library. HathiTrust is a partnership between more than sixty libraries "working to ensure that the cultural record is preserved and accessible long into the future." Many HathiTrust books are older titles, many of which are in the public domain. You can find out more about HathiTrust by visiting http://www.hathitrust.org/about.
The University library has a large (and growing!) collection of e-books available for you to use.
When browsing through a list of results, look for the book icon with the red "e", which indicates the item is an e-book.
Most commonly, e-books belong to either the UIUC Online Collection or HathiTrust eResources. Both mean that the title is available for you to read online.

To find e-books in the Library Catalog, start at the Advanced Search page:
