Reserve Borrowing Periods
2 hours: Standard check-out period for reserves is two hours. Reserve resources may be renewed if no one else is waiting. Reserves can be checked out overnight, and due back the beginning of the next business day. During Breaks, when materials are not in demand, extended borrowing periods may be issued--by discretion of library staff.
1 week: Board Exams, AED/CPR and Safety Issue books
IMPORTANT: Overdue fines accumulate at a rate of:
- $5 per hour (2 hour reserves)
- $5 per day (all other reserves)
To prevent overdue fines from accruing, return all Vet. Med. Library Reserves directly, and only, to the inside Circulation Desk bookdrop.

Welcome to the Veterinary Medicine Library Reserves LibGuide!
Instruction and information is given in this Libguide on how to use the Course Reserves that are available at the University of Illinois Veterinary Medicine Library.
What are the Vet. Med. Library Reserves?
Reserves are a collection of materials that are needed for Veterinary Medicine patrons to have readily available. Ask a Library Worker for assistance with the Reserves.
Permanent Reserves definition
Permanent Reserves are on Reserve all year long. They can be on Reserve because they are for multiple 'semester' class Reserves, or because of its high usage, or both.
Temporary Reserves definition
Temporary Reserves are only on Reserve for a 'Semester', and are generally for specific Class Reserves. After the semester is over, it is taken off Reserve, and is available for regular circulation.
There is an ever increasing number of E-books available through the libraries, and that includes those found in our Reserve collection. This is a list of print Reserve copies that are also available in E-book form. They may or may not be the most current edition available.
See the E-books tab for individual lists.
